An editorial initiative created and managed by Beppe Finessi, edited by Corraini, promoted and supported by Foscarini.
An issue focusing on lightness, oxygen for the mind and a gift for creativity, as Bruno Munari taught.
Knowing how to lighten something is a trait of the mind and a way of living that is both incisive and fluid and produces only beautiful things”, comments Finessi in his editorial. There are a wide range of stimuli and interpretations of the theme, from different creative areas, explored in this innovative publishing project and described, as always, with a unique slant. It ranges from the designs of Lisa Ponti, with their light, immediate lines, to the gazes seen in Rinko Kawauchi’s photos, chosen to follow a through line that is their way of communicating with simplicity. The pages of Inventario contain “Absolutes”, works that have changed our lives – in this case maps by Wim Delvoye, followed by a collection of door stops, simple objects containing the essence of design, in a collection with texts and designs edited by Giulio Iacchetti. Inventario continues to focus on creatives, as in its previous editions, with Ugo La Pietra, a tireless researcher, “a design musician, who transforms noise into sound and teaches us that ‘living’ does not only mean using the space, but loving it”. Snapshots of Bagdad by Roman Ondák follow the used objects chosen by Tobias Putrih, while in the “New Masters” series Tokujin Yoshioka talks to Marco Romanelli and “Modern Legends” describes the formal reductionism of Belgian Maarten Van Severen. The cover shows a collection of candles that were part of the exhibition ‘Fare Lume. Candele tra arte e design’, (Making Light. Candles in Art and Design) at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan from 5th April to 21st May 2012, a successful exhibition by Inventario promoted by Foscarini at the Salone del Mobile 2012. The lamps by Foscarini – in this case Chouchin and Magneto – are present only in the opening and closing of the number in the interpretation of the photographer Emmanuel Mathez who immerses us in the dreamy atmospheres of a movie.
