Valérie in Caen
– BASSE-NORMANDIE
Seasons, children, sheets
Lavender grows together with white roses, and sublime dahlias in the summer. The colours on the walls are the ones that remind me of Normandy: grey, blue and green, mixed. The evening light is the most beautiful light for me.
We chose this house in the centre of Caen also because of the garden.
There, lavender grows together with white roses, and sublime dahlias in the summer. The colours on the walls are the ones that remind me of Normandy: grey, blue and green, mixed. With the evening light, the most beautiful light for me. Our three children no longer live with us, but their rooms are always there, waiting for them and their friends, those rooms are still alive. I love April, May, when the garden begins to bloom, when the lavender is about to blossom; then I cut it, I make sachets for the closets, a piece of the garden that enters the house. My favourite moment? Sunday morning. I’m a physician, like my husband; Sunday is the moment when we are able to take a break, I have my tea in bed, and I can read. The books wait for me silently, on the bedside table. Maybe that is why I am so careful about choosing the sheets. In pale pink, why not? This too reminds me of spring.
