Chiaroscura stems from a design challenge: enhance the functionality of a classic luminator by designing a lightweight body which is totally illuminated and not just illuminating. This was the goal which led to the definition of the shape, the choice of materials and technologies.
The Permanent Observatory of Design has selected the project Chiaroscura by Alberto and Francesco Meda in the Lighting Design category: an atypical and innovative luminator, with a body that is entirely illuminated and not just illuminating.
Chiaroscura takes center stage in a site-specific installation for the exhibition ‘Alberto Meda: Tension and Lightness’ at the Triennale di Milano.
